Ada, MN, sits just north of the Wild Rice River. This river, known locally for its clean, shallow water and sand bars, is a favorite for swimming, tubing, kayaking, and fishing! Popular spots include many bridges along the river, Scout Acres (SE of Ada), and the Heiberg Dam near Twin Valley, MN. If you venture out along the river, be respectful and stay off private land.

The Wild Rice River is a tributary of the Red River of the North. Public access to the Red River is conveniently located just 20 minutes west of Ada in Halstad, MN. According to the Minnesota DNR, the Red River has more than 70 fish species, including channel catfish, walleye, and northern pike.
